BMI Calculator

A simple calculator for Body Mass Index. BMI can be useful in some healthcare contexts, but it is a rough screening measure and does not tell the full story of someone’s health. It can be a useful way to see if you are losing or gaining weight from medications, loss of apetite, etc. A BMI of 18.5 to 24.9 → “normal” or typical reference range.

Note:
BMI does not measure body composition, fitness, nutrition, disability, chronic illness, muscle mass, or overall health. It can be useful for forms, medical discussions, and broad screening, but it should not be used as a personal worth score or a reason to fixate on weight. BMI is only one small piece of the picture. For a broader, more balanced resource, see the HSE Talking About Weight guide .
